In the limestone-rich lowlands of northwest Sardinia, within the metropolitan territory of Sassari, the municipality of Olmedo yields exceptional agricultural treasures. This sun-baked terroir is one of only 8 authorized municipalities allowed to craft Alghero DOC wines, showcasing the coastal influence on native grapes. Olmedo's fields also cultivate the prickly Carciofo Spinoso di Sardegna DOP, a prized artichoke limited to a zone of 128 municipalities. This specific landscape nurtures a total of 17 protected denominations, proving how this small Sardinian enclave plays a disproportionately large role in preserving the island’s authentic flavors.
