Londa

Rising into the rugged peaks of the Florentine Mountains, Londa’s steep terrain and damp chestnut forests create a distinct microclimate. This high-altitude landscape, dotted with hamlets like Rincine, is the ecological birthplace of the prized Marrone del Mugello IGP, a sweet chestnut cultivated across a restricted territory of just 14 municipalities. The sharp temperature swings between day and night in these mountain valleys also concentrate sugars in the grapes, helping Londa sustain 17 protected food and wine denominations. It is this alpine-Apennine transition that gives Londa's mountain agriculture its intense, concentrated flavors.
