This dramatic, forested intersection shapes the microclimate behind 17 protected denominations overlapping in this single municipality. Under these wooded canopies, producers harvest the sweet chestnuts processed into Farina di castagne della Lunigiana DOP, a flour restricted to a zone of just 14 municipalities. The same pristine chestnut forests yield the delicate, aromatic Miele della Lunigiana DOP. Lower down, the sun-drenched hillsides fuel vines for the rare, crisp wines of the Val di Magra IGT.
