Comacchio

In the watery reaches of the Ferrara province, where land meets the Adriatic Sea, Comacchio’s brackish environment shapes a highly specialized culinary identity. This coastal terrain nurtures the vines of Bosco Eliceo DOC, a wine grown in a tight zone of just 8 municipalities, where grapes thrive in sandy dunes. The surrounding wetlands also yield the distinctive Riso del Delta del Po IGP. In total, 19 protected denominations overlap in this amphibious territory, proving how a landscape dominated by sand and water can yield some of Italy's most characterful, salt-kissed flavors.
