Casciago, a small Lombard community of about 3,500 residents in the province of Varese, channels its alpine foothills into a surprising agricultural output. This single municipality contributes to 15 protected denominations. Chief among these is Formaggella del Luinese DOP, a raw goat’s milk cheese produced within a strict zone of only 66 municipalities, where local pastures shape its sweet, delicate paste. The terroir also nurtures Ronchi Varesini IGT wines, which capture the crisp acidity of the pre-Alpine slopes.
