Biandronno

The pre-Alpine slopes of Varese province shape the agricultural output of Biandronno, a lakeside Lombardy community of 3,185 residents. This distinct environment nurtures 15 protected denominations. Chief among these is Formaggella del Luinese DOP, a raw goat’s milk cheese crafted within a restricted zone of 66 municipalities. The damp, temperate air also feeds the vineyards behind Ronchi Varesini IGT wines, a denomination spanning 94 municipalities, and the specific acacia blooms that yield the delicate Miele Varesino DOP. Here, alpine winds and lake waters create a highly localized micro-terroir.
