Guarding the alpine valley approaches twenty-seven kilometers west of Turin, Almese fosters a microclimate where mountain winds meet Piedmontese foothills. This unique topography nurtures 16 protected denominations. Chief among these is the ultra-local Valsusa DOC, a wine shared with a select zone of just 19 municipalities, which thrives on the sunny, rocky terraced slopes. The same rugged terrain sustains the sweet Marrone della Valle di Susa IGP, a coveted chestnut cultivated across 28 mountain communities. Here, altitude and soil concentrate sugars and aromatics, making Almese a vital micro-terroir for alpine viticulture and forest foraging.
