Almenno San Bartolomeo

Almenno San Bartolomeo rises where the rugged Imagna Valley slopes meet the Lombard plains, just twelve kilometers northwest of Bergamo. This transitional alpine landscape shapes the microclimate for 17 protected food and wine denominations. The local hillsides are the domain of Valcalepio DOC, a historic wine produced across 42 neighboring municipalities, alongside the distinctively mineral Terre del Colleoni DOC. Here, mountain drafts and valley soils also nurture aged cheeses like the square-shaped Salva Cremasco DOP. Each bottle and wheel crafted here reflects this precise junction of high pastures and sun-drenched pre-Alpine clay.
