Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi

Wine · PDO · 25 municipalities

Recognized since 1973, the Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi DOC represents a cornerstone of Marche viticulture, defined by its straw-yellow hue and a dry, harmonic palate that finishes with a characteristic, pleasantly bitterish aftertaste. What distinguishes this denomination from neighboring white wines is the precise geographical restriction of its Classico sub-type, which strictly excludes vineyards located to the left of the Misa river as well as those within the municipalities of Ostra and Senigallia. Furthermore, while the standard still wine requires a maximum yield of 14.0 tons per hectare, the rare Spumante Riserva variant must undergo at least 36 months of aging using the classic method.
