Serrapetrona

Wine · PDO · 3 municipalities

Recognised since 2006, the Serrapetrona DOC applies to still red wines produced in three Marche municipalities, including Belforte del Chienti. While sharing the same geographic zone and Vernaccia nera grape variety (minimum 85%) as the sparkling DOCG Vernaccia di Serrapetrona, this DOC focuses exclusively on a single still wine type. It avoids the sweet sparkling style of its sibling, requiring instead a minimum of ten months of ageing to develop its characteristic, delicate aroma and dry, harmonious profile. The resulting red wine must reach at least 12.0% alcohol by volume and is bottled solely in glass containers up to three litres with a mandatory vintage year.
