Reggiano
Wine · PDO · 35 municipalities
The Reggiano DOC, recognized since 2004, spans 35 municipalities in Emilia-Romagna, including Albinea and Boretto. Unlike neighboring denominations that enforce strict maturation periods, Reggiano’s product rules specify no minimum aging times for any of its diverse styles. Instead, this highly versatile DOC defines nine distinct wine styles across five grape families, ranging from sparkling Bianco to the hyper-local Fogarina grape, which carries the Gualtieri geographic designation. Yields are capped at 18.0 tons per hectare for most styles, while still wines must carry a mandatory vintage year on the label and reach a minimum alcohol level of 9.5% by volume.
