Officially recognised by the European Union in 2019, this protected peach denomination encompasses a cultivation zone of twelve specific municipalities, including Delia, Butera, and Caltanissetta. What distinguishes this geographical indication from active neighbouring fruit appellations is its current administrative status: the official registry still records exactly zero verified producers certified to market harvests under the protective label. While the agricultural territory is legally defined to preserve the distinct characteristics of peaches grown in this pocket of southern Sicily, commercial exploitation under the official IGP seal remains entirely unrealised.
