Campidano di Terralba
Wine · PDO · 23 municipalities
Recognized in 1982, the Campidano di Terralba DOC in Sardinia restricts its production to 23 municipalities, including Arbus and Baressa. Unlike neighboring Sardinian red-wine denominations, this territory distinguishes itself by requiring a minimum of 85% Bovale (Bovaleddu) and/or Bovale grande (Bovale di Spagna) grapes. To balance the variety's intense profile, maximum yields are strictly capped at 11.0 tonnes per hectare. For the Riserva category, the rules mandate a minimum of 24 months of aging starting from November 1st of the harvest year, which must be finished with a mandatory cork closure.
